Building a nation with economic independence

National Food Promotion Board which simply denotes as NFPB has been incorporated by the Sri Lanka Freedom from Hunger Act No. 15 of 1973 and currently engages in the operations to promote traditional healthy foods that are free of poisonous substances through giving priority to the concept of the sustainable development in Agriculture through a local agri-economy.

National Food Promotion Board was established under the Act No. 15 of 1973 to realize the prime goal of establishing an economically independent nation while alleviating the culture of dependency by incorporating the sustainable development which achieves through a green revolution.

NFPB has introduced & encouraged local farmers to grow indigenous rice varieties and traditional rice varieties and has contributed in uplifting the nutritious status of Sri Lankans through the issuance of our cereal products such as Mauposha, Suwaposha, special rice flour mixture, special thosai flour mixture to the Markets.

Our Nutritious Food Products

Nourishing a nation with hygienic food products

Sri Lanka, once renowned as the granary of Asia for the past years, is now more reliant on imported food or junk foods which are not hygienic and nutritious. With the prime goal of building up a healthy nation while establishing economic independence among the locals, NFPB undertakes a national service by introducing and promoting novel nutritious food items made from cereals.

Mauposha

Enriched with vitamins and all necessary minerals ‘Mauposha’ is made out from corn, rice, and soybeans targeting the pregnant women to deliver a healthy child to the nation.

Suwaposha

‘Suwaposha’ which is a nutritional supplement made from green grams, soybeans, and rice to eradicate the malnutrition prevailing among the majority of Sri Lankans, especially the children

The special rice flour mixture is a provision of the nutritious pack which distribute by targeting the low weighted pregnant women and the malnutrition prevailing among children

Distributed through Estate Worker Housing Cooperative Societies the special thosai flour mixture is a nutritious pack which manufactured by targeting the estate sector.
