Introduction of eco friendly food wrappers with Banana leaves.

The objectives of the project are :

• To replace the polyethylene food wrappers known as lunch sheets with cured banana leaves as bio food wrappers.
• To generate an added income with banana leaves which are not in use.
• To create a value chain coupled with the food wrapper industry especially with major banana growing areas.

Using an electrically powered machine it is expected to produce about 2500 wrappers per day and to introduce this technique to three major banana growing areas within year 2025.
