Cultivation of Maize in uncultivated irrigable lands in the dry zone areas

The Food Promotion Board has been assigned a target to produce 100,000 Mt of maize in year 2025 and we have planned to start this programme in collaboration with private sector land holdings as PPP project in Yala 2025 onwards.

The objective of this programme is to provide easy access for obtaining maize at an affordable price for small scale livestock farmers and feed manufactures in the country. Also, this programme aims to save the expenditure encountered for  importation of maize and to encourage farmers to utilize their uncultivated lands in productive manner .
